Storytime with Mrs. Cozza

by Mr. Greevy
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to listen to Stella Louella's Runaway Book in the library with Mrs. Kuntz's class.  Mrs. Cozza was reading this book by Lisa Campbell Ernst while the group listened attentively.

As Stella Louella searches for her missing library book--due by five o'clock that day-- she asks everyone she sees, her brother, the letter carrier, the gym teacher and many others to help her find the book.  As  the search party ends up at the library with just five minutes to go, Stella learns that the librarian (who was Mrs. Cozza in our story) has already found the book on a bench out side of the library.

The students loved this book and I enjoyed taking the time to listen to the story with this class and predicting its end with them.

Thanks, Mrs. Cozza for storytime!

Service Project: Operation Christmas Child

by Miss Roush,
4th grade teacher

This year, we decided as a class to participate in Operation Christmas Child. This service project involves filling shoeboxes with Christmas gifts to be sent to children who might not get any Christmas presents. The kids in our class were very generous. We brought in enough gifts to fill 12 boxes for boys and girls who are the same age and the kids in our classroom! Our class enjoyed writing letters to put in each box as well. We spent some of our recess time wrapping each box to send to some very special children for Christmas.

Special Visitor in Mrs. Hubbard's Room!

by Jessica Kregar

On, November 12, Mrs. Hubbard's fourth grade class had a visitor. Officer Snyder is a Williamsport police officer. He came to the class to talk to the kids about being a police officer and what police officers look for at a crime scene. When they get to a crime scene, they look for sweat, blood, and fingerprints. Fingerprints are exactly what Mrs. Hubbard's class was learning about! What an interesting lesson they learned!

ZUMBA! If you want to know what Zumba is, just ask Mrs. Novotny, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Zimmerman, Ms. Knittle or Mr. Cuff to show you their moves! They can be found every Thursday night grooving to Latin tunes at the Fitness Factory. Mrs. Cathy Hall is the instructor, and the class is the place to be if you are looking for a fun way to stay in shape!

Mr. Greevy Teaches Kindergarten

Mr. Greevy taught Kid Writing today in Mrs. Kuntz's classroom.  Mrs. Kuntz is Miss Schrei's mentor and was spending 1/2 hour working in that Kindergarten classroom.  Mr. Greevy taught the writing assignment "I like to visit...."  Students talked about Knobels, McDonalds, Hershey Park, the lake, my grammy's and other fun places.  The class taught Mr. Greevy that he must use 'Space Man' in order to make sure that he had spaces between his words.

After writing, the students had snack and one student set up her fish snack in an A-B-A-B pattern.  Wow!  Mr. Greevy can not wait to be invited back.

Mrs. Fox wants to thank everyone who tried to guess the weight of the gigantic pumpkin that was outside her gym this week. The actual weight of the pumpkin is 54 pounds, 13 ounces. There were 29 people who guessed within five pounds of its actual weight. Of those 29, 15 guessed within three pounds of its weight, and 7 guessed within one pound! The winner of the 54 pounds, 13 ounce pumpkin is Kindergartener, Brendan C from Mrs. Dunlap’s room. Congratulations, Brendan!

A Fall Festival 'Thriller'

That Mrs. Fox was at it again...her students treated Mr. Rhoads and Mr. Greevy to their rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video dance on friday which they had learned during their Physical Education classes.  Mr. Rhoads and Mr. Greevy were called out to hallway where they found students strewn across the floor in zombie-like positions.  Then the music began and dancing ensued.    Boy, was it a THRILL to watch them dance their stuff.

Check out Mrs. Cooley in the background doing her best ZOMBIE...
